UGent Rector and Flemish Minister-President Matthias Diependaele visit CERN

The Rector of Ghent University visited CERN in Geneva as part of an official working visit, together with Flemish Minister-President Matthias Diependaele and fellow rectors from the University of Antwerp and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. The visit took place within the broader framework of Flemish engagement in international research and innovation infrastructures.

The programme focused on Flanders’ contribution to large-scale fundamental research, with particular attention to the CMS experiment — one of the largest international scientific collaborations ever — as well as to ongoing and future cooperation around the Einstein Telescope. These are key research domains in which Ghent University researchers play a strong and active role.

World-class science, firmly rooted in Flanders and in our universities.
